When we first bought the car seat, we were so excited that it would make our travelling easier. We were wrong, totally wrong! The baby will refuse to sit still, he will get bored soon especially with the back facing infant car seat, he cannot see anything but the passenger seat. It is frustrating sometime for me since husband is far away and I have to be a single fighter for this situation. Here some tips for moms who need to riding a car with your baby.
Make sure the baby is full. If it is about his feeding time, go feed him, he will be so cranky if he is hungry. I always have a back up breastfeeding milk in my bag, pump, and bottle (I pump on the fly).
Favorite toy. I put a hanging rattle and toy on the car seat, as well a soft book on his lap, and a teether. Just to make him busy.
Put the music. I tell you what, the best music for your baby is your voice. Sing, sing his favorite song and he will be happy. Dont forget to bring a lot of fluids for you, those baby songs will dehydrate your throat soon.
Time. Do not travel in busy hour, if you have nothing to catch, find a friendly travel time. It will prevent you from bad office hour traffic.
Pit stop. Find a route which best for you, if the baby need to be fed within an hour, find a route that allow you stop before that. Or if the baby get cranky, you can stop just to find some fresh air.
