A SUNNY DAT AT THE PARK

It was a sunny saturday afternoon, that we finally decided to go to Duthie Park. Husband was not in the mood going to the park at the beginning, but then he was so happy that we finally went to this park. 18degC and the sun was shinning so bright, just a little wind blew, typical Aberdeen weather. We took a bus to the park and arrived after 10 minutes ride.

This place is huge! it popped up in my mind the first time I saw it. It says the park has 44 acres which was owned by Ms Duthie previously and then she donated it to the city. The park has cricket area on the lawns, two children playgrounds, some ponds which one of them is for boating activity. We walked through the park and admiring its beauty. Spring has already came, flowers was blooming, birds were singing and children are riding on their bike. There were so many people at the park and we were excited too, seeing what they were doing.

We went to the second playgrond which had more attraction and found an empty swing for baby. But just the time when we were going to pull little R out of his stroller, we found out that he was sleeping peacefully. I thought he might got a wind attack. We let him sleeping in his stroller to get some shine for vitamin D (they keep telling me how important vit D for baby).

Little R sleeps in style, sunglasses on!
Once again thank you Ms Duthie, for letting us enjoy your beautiful park.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

For some of you might say it is too late to read this book, yeah it is. In place where I was raised this fairy tale was not famous until now it came for a broadway show. When I went to the bookstore these day, I found this book on a table that listed as "the book which made us today", mmm sounds very interesting.

It took me only 3 days to finish the book, that was a bomb! I never finished reading book that fast. The book is very well explained and very good for kids imagination. It is a story about a girl named Dorothy who lived in Kansas with her Aunt and Uncle. Oneday there is a cyclone, and Dorothy can not make it to the shelter. The cyclone take her and her dog, Toto to a unknown country. Her house accidentaly killed the wicked witch of the East. It was a good news to Munchkins who was a slave to the wicked. Dorothy is trying to find how to go back to Kansas, and the witch of the North tell her to go find the Wizard of Oz because he is the one who can do everything. Then the journey begin, she meet Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and cowardly Lion on the way to the Emerald City where the Wizard of Oz ruled it. It is a long journey with a lot of danger. There are alot of wise and wonderful things we can learn in this book. The book teach us about friendship, dreams, hardwork, and faith. It is a very reccomended book for young age, I wished I had read it before during my childhood, but it never too late huh?

Now I am so obssesed with this classical series, need to buy more, dont you mind my dear husband?

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE VISIT

Yesterday little R got a visitor, not one but two from Holburn Medical. We registered our family there few weeks back and got a mail later on saying that there would be a visit for little R. Just in time he reached his 9 months old, he needed a general baby check up.

We talked about little R medical history, immunisations, and his development. Little R was doing great. He could eat finger food himself, pass toy with one hand to another, sit without support, locate sounds quite accurately, respond to his name, babbling, and enjoy playing peek-a-boo a lot. I am a proud mama. The immunisation pretty much on track, we just missed menC since it was not mandatory in Indonesia. We would have a schedule for it sometime this week. They suggested me and little R to have some vitamin D since I am still breast feeding. It is not necessary if your baby drink more than 500ml formula milk a day to take additional vitamin D, it is already included in formula milk. Here, the sun is rare and because we have asian skin type, we need to add vitamin D supplement starting from 6 months old. We got a lot of informative books about raising a baby up to 5 years, what to expect and what to worry, even some playing tips.

Little R got body measurement as well, not too much gaining in weight thought, let see next month! Little R pretty much happy with the visit, he made a friends, played around with the nurse. I think he missed being surrounding by a lot of people. Mama needs to find you a real friend, kiddo!

DIY: CARDBOARD BOX HOUSE

We had a lot of cardboard box left inside the house from last relocation and husband was just too lazy to throwed it away. And it was not a bad idea at all, little R loved to play inside, so mama was thinking to make his little own crib. Actually that was the easiest cardboard box idea, we will come up with other invention later.

We went to Toys R Us last weekend and found this Crayola for beginner. I just could not stand it, it was so cute. I was so obssessed with this brand since I was a little kid and now found two pax for little one, just way to happy. It stated 12+, 3 months to go haha. It came up with 8 different colors and guess what, they had an animal patterns for the pencils. The jumbo pencil made it easy for little hand to grip it, Rauf loves to play with it pretending that it was a stick. I had not had time to use the marker, too afraid it could caused a lot of mess. Maybe later, when his hands coordination got better.

Now with the coloring pencil in hands, I could make a decoration for the little crib. We put all his animal dolls inside. Maybe I sould have named it a Barn instead a House :).

BON ACCORD TERRACE GARDENS

We just found out a garden nearby the apartment. It was so close but needed a detour to be able to get stroller in. The park is huge, with a pathway inside and some chairs. It should be spring, but the flower was not showed up yet. There were some people enjoying their meal since it was midday.
I put little R on the grass so he could feel the breeze. He was overjoyed, but his jacket was too big, it was hard for him to move, oops mama bad. We should go back here later, with an appropriate jacket size. Hopefully the sun will stay longer next month.

DONT YOU LOVE CUPCAKE?

My first cupcake in Aberdeen! Bought it at Bon Accord mall. Smarties for me and red velvet for husband. It made from Bibi's bakery. I just love the cheese topping. Ooops did I tell you red velvet wasnt mine? Yes, you right husband let me eat both of them for Mothers day treat.

BABY PLAY AND LEARN : INTRODUCTION TO COLOR

I have to admit it is not easy to be a stay at home mama. Mr. R has so much energy and never want to sleep. As a super mom, I have to find an interesting activity for him. You know, days are so slow with baby and years are so fast.

I recently bought a flash card to learn number and it has a colorful background too. So I came up for an idea to teach color. I used his old baby gym for the color base container. I only want to introduce him basic color this time, red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple. The game is pretty simple, show him the cards and pronounce the color, then put it on. Sometimes, I used some fruits too such as banana, orange, lemon, green apple, red apple, plum, and too bad no blue color fruit.

He might not understand now and even did not interested at all, haha. Later on when he get older, it should have been his favorite activity.

NEW CITY, NEW LIFE, NEW WEATHER!

Did you guys notice that we are now in Aberdeen, finally! After long tiring trip from Jakarta to Aberdeen straight with the baby, on cold weather, we are saved, thanks Lord. The trip was exhausting, we took the route from Jakarta - Kuala Lupur - Amsterdam - Aberdeen. I suggested you guys if you take your baby with you it is better to have less transit (lesson learnt).

We came just in time, spring it is, well you may say it is spring but for me it is still cold. The best temperature is only as high as 17 degC. But that is OK for us, because we are so thrilled for the new adventure! whoop whoop. Our apartment is about 15 minutes driving from the airport, no traffic. And guess what, it is in the city! Husband is so nice to me. We live in Strawberry Bank Parade apartment compound, nearby Union Street. So just walk for couple minutes and we find the city!

This was our first attempt going out without husband. It was sunny day, 15 degC based on weather forecast. I took my jacket and dressed up. Little R was wearing full winter outfit, gloves, hat, double jackets, double socks, and double pants. Just precaution, I dont want my little baby to be sick on his first day. We took some walks on the Union Street, just looking around. The building was made of granite, I dont know why. I am so excited about this city, I will post a lot more picture later, because now I am enjoying freezing Aberrrrdeen.
